NOTES: I have dated this watch by the case serial number, but I am not sure that's the best course of action. In solid gold models of this time frame, the serial number has not proved reliable as a dating mechanism. However, the serial number in this case does conform to the 7-digit format--which is not usually the case with solid gold models of the 1920s--so I have reason to believe it may be reliable. The movement dates to 1927, which may be a more accurate date for the watch.
This watch is quite similar to the Virginia, but that model boasts 12 saphires, whereas my example has only eight, not counting the four on the matching bracelet.
